Palm Beach – March 2024. The Hon Consul General of His Majesty The King of Tonga to Portugal, Anthony Bailey, attended a celebratory gala event at the Pelican Club in Jupiter, Florida, marking the 40th anniversary of the Wild Dolphin Project (www.WildDolphinProject.org)
This remarkable organisation founded by Dr Denise Herzing in 1985 has devoted over four decades to dolphin research under her leadership. Today it is the longest running underwater dolphin research project in the world which is determined to ‘Crack the Code’ of dolphin communication.
During the celebratory event among many of the public figures who spoke or attended included British conservationist Sir Richard Attenborough, US leading photographer Ruth Petzold and Brazilian award-winning filmmaker Filipe de Andrade.
Consul General Anthony Bailey also met with renowned photographer and conservationist Prince Hussain Aga Khan, third son of His Highness The Aga Khan IV, 49th Imam of Nizari Ismaili.
Prince Hussain work underpins his deep passion for wildlife and ecosystems. Thanks to over three decades of expeditions, including many to the Kingdom of Tonga an extraordinary archive has been created.
Tonga remains one of Prince Hussain’s passions having taken some of the most remarkable photos of the humpback whales in the northern Tongan islands of Vava’u.
Prince Hussain also works for many international organisations including the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat and the Aga Khan Development Network. He also established the Focused On Nature (https://focusedonnature.org), a conservation fund established in 2014 which supports the conservation of sharks, cetaceans, rainforests, African Elephants and rhinoceroses.
