His Majesty’s Government

On 18 December 2025 His Majesty King Tupou VI appointed Lord Fatafehi Fakafanua as the 20th Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Tonga following the presentation of the Royal Warrant of Appointment during a private audience held at the Royal Palace in Nuku’alofa.

This appointment followed General Elections held on 20 November 2025 and the subsequent secret ballot of the 26 Legislative Assembly members to elect Lord Fatafehi Fakafānua as Prime Minister-designate on 15 December 2025.

The Royal Warrant of Appointment was proclaimed in accordance with Clause 50A (1) of the Constitution of Tonga.
