The Hon Consul General of His Majesty The King of Tonga accredited to the Portuguese Republic, Mr Anthony Bailey, attended the National Day of the State of Kuwait hosted by His Excellency Hamad Ali Alhazeem, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait in Portugal.
The Hon Consul General and the Ambassador recalled at the meeting held at the Kuwait Embassy in Lisbon the recent formalisation of diplomatic ties between the Kingdom of Tonga and the State of Kuwait which took place on 2 September 2021 at an official ceremony held at the United Nations in New York, USA.
The Hon Consul General also reiterated his heartfelt condolences to the Ambassador following the passing of His late Highness Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad Al-Jabar Al Sabah, Amir of Kuwait on 16 December 2023 and his congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on this Accession to the Amiri Throne. Anthony Bailey last visited Kuwait in June 2019.
