Lisbon – 22 February 2024. His Majesty’s Hon Consul General of the Kingdom of Tonga to Portugal, Mr Anthony Bailey, paid a courtesy visit on His Excellency Dr Sayed Majid Tafarshi at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Lisbon.
During the meeting discussions were held as to how to enhance cooperation between both countries who are yet to formalise diplomatic relations.
Ambassador Tafarshi previously served as the Iranian ambassador to New Zealand and was the first non-resident Iranian ambassador to the Republic of Fiji and is well versed in South Pacific matters, especially in the area of climate change. Anthony Bailey last visited Iran in March 2017
