His Majesty’s Hon Consul General of the Kingdom of Tonga to Portugal, Mr Anthony Bailey paid a courtesy visit on Her Excellency Mrs Mary Flores, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Portugal.
Ambassador Flores presented credentials to the President of the Portuguese Republic on 30 March 2023 having previously served as her nation’s Consul General in Lisbon.
Tonga and Venezuela established diplomatic relations on 9 May 2007. The Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations serves as non resident Ambassador to Caracas.
HE Mr Viliami Va‘inga Tōnē currently serves in this position. He succeeded his two predecessors at the UN including current Tongan Foreign Minister Hon Fekitamoeloa ʻUtoikamanu and former foreign minister Lord Taumoepeau-Tupou of Toula and Kotu.
Consul General Anthony Bailey last visited Venezuela in August 2022.
