Nuku’alofa – 22 August 2023. The Cardinal of Tonga, His Eminence Cardinal Soane Patita Paini Mafi extends his most sincere appreciations to Mr. Anthony Bailey, the Tongan Honorary Consul General to Portugal, for his assistance on the travel to Fatima of the pilgrims of Tonga, and for hosting a lovely lunch in Lisbon for the 104 youth pilgrims from Tonga attending the World Youth Day 2023 in Lisbon. There were four priests and four nuns among this huge group of youths from Tonga, including one youth from Niue and one from the Cook Islands.
This lovely lunch was held at restaurant Sabores de Sintra in Sintra the Royal Capital of Portugal on Saturday 5th August 2023. The young people from Tonga came home with memories of this beautiful lunch. It was an honour for them to meet the Tonga Honorary Consul General and so also HRH The Duke of Braganza. They learnt a lot about the rich history of Portugal and her royal descendants.
They enjoyed the rich variety of food, which included the Tongan Puaka Tunu or roasted pig in this lunch. The youth join His Eminence Cardinal Mafi in extending their appreciations and thanks for the kind hospitality of the Honorary Consul General of Tonga to Portugal, Mr.Anthony Bailey and his lovely family.
