Lisbon – 22 February 2024. His Majesty’s Hon Consul General of the Kingdom of Tonga to Portugal, Mr Anthony Bailey, paid a courtesy visit on the Royal Norwegian Embassy accredited to the Portuguese Republic.
The meeting took place with Gerg Pettersen, Counsellor of the Embassy and discussions were held as to how to further enhance relations between both countries which were established on 30 August 1988.
In April 2019 HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway paid an Official Visit to the Kingdom of Tonga accompanied by the Norwegian International Development Minister Dag-Inge Ulstein.
His Majesty King Tupou VI granted an audience to the Crown Prince at the Royal Palace in Nuku’alofa and later hosted a dinner in honour of the visiting Norwegian Heir to the Throne.
Norway and Tonga have a number of common interests and cooperate in several areas to promote sustainable development, maritime health and efforts to combat climate change.
