His Majesty’s Hon Consul General of the Kingdom of Tonga to Portugal, Mr Anthony Bailey, paid a courtesy visit on His Excellency John Camilleri Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to the Portuguese Republic.
Ambassador Camilleri presented his credentials as the Ambassador of Malta to the President of Portugal on 20 July 2020. Prior to this appointment Mr Camilleri served as Chief of Staff to the then President of Malta, HE Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, and recently held posts at the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs of Malta.
The meeting took place at the Maltese Embassy in Lisbon and discussions were held as to how to further enhance relations between both Commonwealth member states and island nations. Tonga and Malta established diplomatic relations in 2007.
Tongan Consul General Anthony Bailey has a long association Malta and last visited Valletta in August 2023.
