His Majesty’s Hon Consul General of the Kingdom of Tonga to Portugal, Mr Anthony Bailey paid a courtesy visit on His Excellency Wael A El-Naggar, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Portuguese Republic.
Ambassador El-Naggar was appointed Egypt’s Ambassador to Portugal in December 2021 and presented Credentials to HE The President of the Portuguese Republic in January 2022.
Their Majesties King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau’u led the Kingdom of Tonga’s delegation to COP27 – the annual global Climate Conference which was hosted by the Egyptian Government in Sharm El Sheik from 6-18 November 2022.
Among the wider Tongan delegation were Prime Minister Hon. Hu’akavameiliku and the ministers of Agriculture and Finance and the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.
Consul General Anthony Bailey resided in Cairo during 1991-1992 when he previously advised the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities and the Ministry of Information. He has regularly visited Egypt ever since.
