New York – 23 September 2023. On the sidelines of the 78th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Tonga, Hon. Hu’akavameiliku, Siaosi ‘Ofakivahafolau Sovaleni received his nation’s Hon Consul General to Portugal, Anthony Bailey.
The meeting took place at the Permanent Mission of Tonga to the United Nations in New York on 23 September 2023 and the Tonga’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Ambassador to the United States of America HE Viliami Va’inga Tone attended the meeting.
A further breakfast meeting was held on 24 September 2023 between the Hon Fekitamoeloa Katoa ‘Utoukamanu, Minister for Foreign Affairs & Tourism of Tonga and the Consul General Anthony Bailey.
The Chief of Protocol Mrs Ilaisipa Alipate attended.
Mr Bailey briefed the head of government and the foreign minister on the activities of the Consulate General during the past year and future plans to further enhance Tongan-Portuguese ties.
