{"id":9622,"date":"2025-12-17T02:15:23","date_gmt":"2025-12-17T02:15:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tonga-gov.pt\/?p=9622"},"modified":"2026-03-28T16:01:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-28T16:01:12","slug":"city-of-lisbon-welcomes-the-president-of-the-slovak-republic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tonga-gov.pt\/en\/city-of-lisbon-welcomes-the-president-of-the-slovak-republic\/","title":{"rendered":"City of Lisbon welcomes The President of the Slovak Republic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"255\" data-end=\"601\">Anthony Bailey, HM Hon Consul-General of the Kingdom of Tonga in Portugal, attended the official ceremony at the <strong data-start=\"368\" data-end=\"398\">C\u00e2mara Municipal de Lisboa<\/strong> marking the granting of the <strong data-start=\"427\" data-end=\"457\">Keys of the City of Lisbon<\/strong> to the <strong data-start=\"465\" data-end=\"501\">President of the Slovak Republic<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"511\" data-end=\"541\">Peter Pellegrini<\/strong>, the highest civic honour bestowed by the Portuguese capital upon a visiting Head of State.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"603\" data-end=\"979\">The ceremony took place in the <strong data-start=\"634\" data-end=\"649\">Sal\u00e3o Nobre<\/strong> of Lisbon City Hall and was hosted by <strong data-start=\"688\" data-end=\"722\">Carlos Moedas, Mayor of Lisbon<\/strong>, who reflected on Lisbon\u2019s historic role as a city of openness, dialogue and cultural encounter. In his remarks, the Mayor emphasised the symbolism of the Keys of the City as an expression of trust, esteem and hospitality offered by the citizens of Lisbon.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"981\" data-end=\"1193\">The formal proceedings were accompanied by a programme of <strong data-start=\"1039\" data-end=\"1074\">choral music of notable quality<\/strong>, which contributed to the solemnity and dignity of the occasion and reinforced the cultural dimension of the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1195\" data-end=\"1592\">Mr Bailey reflected on his longstanding association with the <strong data-start=\"1256\" data-end=\"1275\">Slovak Republic<\/strong>, recalling that in <strong data-start=\"1295\" data-end=\"1303\">2015<\/strong> he had the pleasure of hosting a formal luncheon in <strong data-start=\"1356\" data-end=\"1366\">London<\/strong> in honour of <strong data-start=\"1380\" data-end=\"1406\">President Andrej Kiska<\/strong>, then President of the Slovak Republic.
