Ambassador Moniz will soon become the second non-resident Ambassador of Portugal accredited to Tonga in succession to Ambassador Ant\u00f3nio Pedro Rodrigues da Silva.   Discussions were held about further strengthening and growing relations between the two ancient and historic maritime nations which established diplomatic relations on 1 November 2008.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022 Tongan Prime Minister Hon Hu\u2019akavameiliku (Siaosi Sovaleni) and Foreign Minister Hon Fekitamoeloa Katoa \u2018Utoukamanu officially visited Portugal on the occasion of the United Nations Oceans Conference hosted by the Portuguese Government in Lisbon. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Canberra &#8211; June 2024.
