\"\" The President of the United States of America, Joseph R. Biden accepted on 20 April 2021 the Letter of Credence for Viliami Va\u2019inga T\u014dn\u0113 as Ambassador of the Kingdom of Tonga to the United States of America, thereby accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Tonga. Due to the exigencies of the COVID-19 pandemic, the in-person presentation of credentials has been temporarily replaced by a paper-based credentialing process.<\/p>\n

President Biden welcomed Ambassador T\u014dn\u0113 as a member of the diplomatic corps in Washington and expressed the desire of the Government of the United States of America to advance common agenda and to \u201cdeepen the strong and abiding friendship\u201d<\/em> of the two countries.<\/p>\n

Ambassador T\u014dn\u0113 in his remarks to President Biden conveyed the felicitations and best wishes of His Majesty King Tupou VI for the president\u2019s good health and the welfare and prosperity of the United States of America. He further conveyed His Majesty\u2019s desire to maintain the long-standing and cordial relations of the two countries.
